It read clearly on the World Triathlon Corporation internet page, “Thanks to a beautiful seashore and perfect temperatures, IRONMAN Florida is a magnet for triathletes and their families”. Let’s just say that ‘race day’ could not have been further from the truth!

Dave Weber's Enduroman race experience

Entering was me committing to a winter of Ironman training...but with a twist..this time the economy of cadence and heart rate would be exchanged in favour of hill climbs in the pursuit of vertical miles..on the run as well as the bike...a very different approach to the required monotony of IMSA preparation

Annah Watkinson - Kona Dreams

When I asked Annah to write this pre-Kona blog, she was in phenomenal race shape and we confident of her ability to achieve a podium in Kona. Since then, Annah was involved in a bike crash resulting in a badly broken collar bone that needed surgery less than 3 weeks out of Kona.

It’s been a busy year since becoming the first quadriplegic to complete an Ironman in December; racing many events from swimming, cycling and running individually as well as triathlon throughout February to Ma,y but the focus was always going to come down to UCI World champs in cycling and I was confidently hopeful to get a slot at Kona.

My journey from sunny SA to Ironman Canada was a lot like that of the Jamaican bobsled team in the movie Cool Runnings.

Hugo van Rooyen: Victoria 70.3 , Victoria,B.C ,Canada

The beginning of the year I struggled to get going in between getting flu , traveling to South Africa and Hawaii for Holiday , working nights etc , it just never felt I was ever going to build a few consecutive weeks together of solid training.

Annchen Clarke: Luxembourg 70.3 and France Long course champs

Not all races go to plan right? And lead up to Luxembourg 70.3 was not exactly how it should have been. 2 weeks prior to race day and Mister Taxi driver pulls out in front of me in the last 100m of 120km ride... up until then I felt tip-top, today’s bike legs given me uber confidence for the race ahead…alas it was not to be,

Annah Watkinson: Challenge Roth Race Report

The Build Up All I can say is – WOW. This race lived up to its reputation, and then some. As somewhat new kid on the block when it comes to ironman distance triathlons, this absolutely has to be a race that you enter. The whole experience is just incredible. From the way that Roth welcomes the athletes, to the organisation, the sense of excitement at the expo and OMG the crowds on race day. OMG! You have never seen anything like it. Take Ironman South Africa and multiply this by 50. I have never experienced anything like it. I still get goose bumps just thinking of it
